The salary range for this position is $85,500 - $136,900 per year with a hiring range of $85,500 - $111,200 per year, depending on qualifications and experience.

Loveland Water and Power Engineering is looking for two dynamic Electrical Engineers to join our team. Our first hire will use their experience to review new capital construction projects, develop project-specific specifications, evaluate project proposals, and engage in long term planning and grid management. Our second position will work with substation design, operations and maintenance, SCADA system configuration and support, as well as system protection and control. As an electrical engineer, you’ll have the ability to cross train and learn other areas of engineering and work with a variety of utility staff including line crews, designers, vendors and the public. Our ideal candidate will have prior utility experience, familiarity with utility infrastructure, an interest in new generation technology and grid automation, and experience with technology software and tools such as AutoCAD, ArcMap, and Milsoft.

- Performs engineering studies to optimize performance of the electric distribution system including overcurrent coordination, short circuit analysis, voltage regulation, load flow, power factor correction, lighting design, overvoltage protection, harmonic analysis, and distributed energy resource integration.
- Creates, reviews, and approves power distribution system switching orders to support construction and maintenance operations.
- Provides support for Distribution System Operators and Line Crews during maintenance operations and restoration of power outages.
- Independently develops project-specific specifications, evaluate proposals, and issue requisitions for discipline-related equipment.

Licensure and/or certifications:
Must possess a valid driver’s license. Engineer in Training designation preferred.

Working environment/physical activities:
Work is performed both inside and outside with occasional outside work in inclement weather and around excessive noise from machines or equipment. Moderate physical activity required by moving, positioning and handling objects up to 50 pounds occasionally and/or up to 50 pounds frequently. Work may include pushing, pulling, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, climbing and reaching to assist others in performing job. Working environment may include working in confined spaces, below ground installations, above ground ladders, aerial devices or equipment at various heights, working around energized equipment, (50 volts to 115kV). Work may involve long hours and overtime during holidays, emergencies and weekends. Position is subject to call out during outages with no notice and will also be on-call during certain times of the year.
