Assistant Professor - Mechanical Engineering - Tenure Track

The Mechanical Engineering Department at the University of Arkansas is seeking outstanding candidates to fill a tenure-track Assistant Professor position starting in August 2021. The broad area of interest is Future Manufacturing. We are specifically looking for individuals who complement our existing research strengths. Complimentary areas include manufacturing systems, cyber manufacturing, manufacturing applications of AI or machine learning, biomanufacturing, advanced surface engineering toward biomedical/prosthetic devices, and other select advanced manufacturing/materials engineering topics. Both experimental and computational specialists are strongly encouraged to apply. Furthermore, joint appointment opportunities will be considered for the successful candidate between the Department of Mechanical Engineering (tenure home of the position) and either the Department of Biomedical or Industrial Engineering. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated scholarly research and be able to collaborate with faculty members within one or more of the Department’s and/or College of Engineering’s existing or emerging areas of research strength. The successful candidate will be expected to teach core mechanical engineering classes in support of our undergraduate and graduate programs, establish an externally funded research program, and contribute to the departmental service needs. Applicants must have an earned doctorate degree in mechanical engineering or other closely related disciplines. The successful candidate must have strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated high proficiency in both written and oral communication.
