The Department of Civil Engineering at Stony Brook University invites applications for a full-time lecturer (non-tenure track position) to teach courses in the areas of structural engineering, geotechnical engineering, construction materials, and construction management. Responsibilities include classroom/laboratory teaching, preparing course material, managing graders and/or teaching assistants, holding office hours, assigning grades, and maintaining course websites. Candidates must have an earned doctorate in civil engineering, or a closely related engineering discipline, and have relevant and effective teaching experience. Having a professional engineers’ license is preferred. While opportunities to get involved in research and department service may be available, this is solely a teaching positon. The Department of Civil Engineering was established in 2015 and is one of nine academic departments within the College of Engineering and Applied Sciences (CEAS). The department currently has over 160 undergraduate students and a growing graduate program.
