The City Engineer is a high-level manager position within the Public Works Department and is a key member of Public Works Management Team. This position oversees and manages the engineering functions for the Department of Public Works including but not limited to, Development Review, Capital Project Delivery, creation and maintenance of standards and guidelines, compliance with Local, State and Federal requirements and G.I.S. and asset management support.
This position also oversees the Development Reviews of private development applications and coordinates with other City departments and, as necessary, outside agencies and/or districts to ensure the proposed designs of private development projects are compatible and consistent with City standards and regulations and state and federal laws. Such applications include, but are not limited to subdivision maps and site improvement plans and related technical documents.
Performs complex, professional-level field and office planning and engineering activities involving the design, development and construction of a variety of private development projects and Capital Projects, as well as assisting and providing input on updates of the city’s comprehensive plan, zoning ordinance and subdivision regulation.
Bachelor's degree from a four-year college with major coursework in civil engineering, construction management, or related field;
7 to 10 years of experience.
Colorado Professional Engineer's license required
Experience with management of staff
Experience with on-time and on-budget delivery of Capital Projects
An understanding of Local, State, and Federal requirements related to engineering standards
