Job Description: Technicians assist the engineering staff with project work, including activities such as database development, field surveys, field testing, and data displays (using CADD and other programs). A technician may also be responsible for maintaining and operating specialized testing equipment, including the falling weight deflectometer (FWD), a coring rig, an automated distress data collection vehicle, and a profilometer. In addition, a Technician may have primary responsibility for certain portions of a project and may direct the activities of other team members.
Position Requirements: Experience with AutoCAD, familiarity with Microsoft Office programs (such as Word and Excel), and good overall computer usage skills are required; experience with mechanical and electrical systems, field inspection/testing, GPS data, and GIS software is also desired. Training will be provided to develop technical and professional skills. Candidates must possess good communication skills and the flexibility to work overtime and weekends when necessary. Preference will be given to individuals with an associate’s or bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (such as from a construction or engineering technician program).
