The Capital Project Services (CPS) Division within the Department of Land Use and Transportation is currently recruiting for two (2) Engineering Technician II's (ET II's).
CPS is responsible for multi-million dollar transportation improvement projects. The successful candidates will be knowledgeable in the various aspects of major road construction, large span bridges and complex wall construction, signal installation, and inspection of large underground utilities. To perform as an Engineering Technician II in CPS, the successful candidates will have experience with inspections on the types of major road construction listed above. The candidates need to be able to perform plan review, construction inspection and documentation, quality control implementation and documentation, and have experience with Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT) or other state DOT specifications. In addition, the individuals will have the ability to operate tools and equipment associated with roadway construction such as basic survey equipment, distance measuring devices, and other related equipment. Candidates should also have the ability to safely operate full size passenger vehicles and pickups and other related equipment.
The successful candidates will work with a diverse group of stakeholders including engineers, developers, utilities, contractors, other government agencies, and citizens. The incumbents must possess excellent communication skills both verbally and in writing and should have the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
Education and Experience: A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:
Two (2) years of responsible experience in road construction, inspection, construction management, civil engineering, traffic engineering, or surveying, and work experience in an office or field setting; OR
An Associate's Degree in civil engineering or related field.
