The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of California, Davis, anticipates up to 1-3 openings for Temporary Lecturers to teach undergraduate courses during Spring 2019. Candidates must have a Master's degree, or preferably a PhD, in Civil Engineering or a closely related field, be committed to excellence in teaching, and have demonstrated instructional experience.
(1) Rigorous and intellectually challenging course content and (2) the ability to present that material effectively, e.g., stimulating interest in and critical thought regarding the subject matter.
Expertise in the subject matter will be evaluated based on one or more of the following: academic training, publications, professional experience, letters of recommendation, and prior achievement (student ratings, etc.) in teaching.
Salary and appointment level commensurate with experience. Actual salary is based on percentage of appointment: One course (3-4 units) = 33% appointment. These positions are covered by a collective bargaining agreement.

The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering currently has 41 faculty members occupying
