CITY ENGINEER Position Overview: The City of Evans is seeking a dynamic City Engineer to serve as a member of a collaborative team to pave the way for future success. The City Engineer will lead a team of professional staff and ensuring high quality design, construction, and functionality of City infrastructure; collaborate with community development and public works staff to ensure effective and efficient, customer–centered service; and represent Evans in regional infrastructure planning forums. The Community: Evans, Colorado is a highly diversified, growing community located in Northern Colorado with an estimated population of 21,400 covering about 10.5 square miles. Evans is growing due in part to its outstanding quality of life including, over 300 days of sunshine each year and a full four seasons. Evans’ median household income is about $55,437 and its median age is 33.7 compared to the US median age of 37.4. Evans is recognized for neighborhoods with a full range of housing values. Evans is located in Weld County and is adjacent to Greeley, the County seat. Weld County is the third largest county in Colorado with approximately 4,000 square miles. It has an estimated population of 285,174 (2015) and employs about 139,000. Evans is located at the intersection of two major highways: US 85 and US 34. Evans is within 60 minutes of Estes Park, Rocky Mountain National Park, Denver International Airport and downtown Denver. Ideal Candidate: The City is seeking a highly experienced, motivated, collaborative, and engaging professional with well-developed leadership, management, planning, organizational, budgeting, and communication skills to oversee the City’s Engineering Division, including the Capital Improvement Program (CIP). The ideal candidate will be a self-starter, have robust experience in CIP project management and best practices, and a proven track record of community engagement. Strong candidates will also have a customer-focused service orientation and be responsive in working with numerous customers to come up with practical answers to issues/problems. This individual will enjoy working in a fast-paced, collaborative environment and will be an effective, respected representative of the City. In addition, the ideal candidate will have an in-depth knowledge of engineering principles, methods, and practices that are applicable to public works, including surveying, inspection, construction practices, and GIS.
